Singapore Canoe Federation hold key positions in Asia Canoe Confederation (ACC) & International Canoe Federation (ICF)

The Asia Canoe Confederation (ACC) Congress 2009 was held in Iran in conjunction with the ACC Canoe Championship from Sept 22 to 30, 2009. Singapore Canoe Federation (SCF) is pleased to announce the following appointments:
a) Mr. CHUA, Kee-Huat, President of SCF has been elected to be ACC Continental Representative and ICF Board of Director

b) Mr. Henry SIM, Hon. Secretary of SCF has be re-elected again as ACC Treasurer

c) Mr. Joseph ANG, SCF Asst. Hon. Secretary is elected as ACC Canoe Marathon Chairman

13th Asia Canoe Confederation (ACC) Canoe Sprint Championship 2009

The 13th ACC Canoe Sprint Championship was held in Tehran, Iran for more than 40 countries to participate in this regional championship from Sept 22 to 30, 2009.

Event Organiser from Singapore attended International Canoe Federation (ICF) Canoe World Marathon Championship 2009

A event organiser from Singapore attended the ICF Canoe World Marathon Championship held in Crestuma, Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal from Sept 16 to 20, 2009. The event orgainser is interested to collaborate and partner with Singapore Canoe Federation to host the ICF Canoe World Marathon Championship 2011 which will be held in Singapore.

Huge turnout at the 13th International Canoe Federation Junior Canoe Canoe Sprint World Championship

The ICF Junior Canoe Sprint World Championship was held in Moscow, Russia with more than 500 athletes from 55 countries participated in the championship. Singapore sent a team of 20 with 17 athletes, 2 Team Officials and 1 National Coach.

Singapore participated in 13th Asian Canoe Polo Championship

Singapore sent 2 teams to particiapte in Asian Canoe Polo Championship which was held in Liyu Lake, Hualian Taiwan. There were total of 16 teams from 6 nations participated in this championship.

Winner for Singapore Sports Awards 2009: Singapore Canoe Federation K4 Women Team (Meritorious Event)

Singapore Canoe Federation K4 Women Team will be awarded for Singapore Sports Awards 2009 - Meritorious Event. The team performed well in the last SEA Games in Thailand and clinched a Silver & Bronze for Singapore. The Singapore Sports Awards 2009 will be held on Jun 19, 2009 at Orchard Hotel.

Singapore Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Competition Manager (Canoeing) visited YOG Test Event in Lyon, France

Singapore YOG Competition Manager (Canoeing): Joseph Ang, visited the YOG Test Event in Lyon, France from Apr 12 to 20. The test event is organised by International Canoe Federation (ICF) from Apr 12 to 20, 2009 to assess and test the 2 YOG events: Head-to-Head Sprint and Slalom.

Singapore to host Asian University Canoeing Championship

Singapore will be hosting 1st Asian University Canoeing Championship organised jointly by National University of Singapore and Singapore Canoe Federation. The event will be held from July 16 to 20, 2009 in Singapore.

SEA (South East Asia) Canoe Championships 2008 Closing Ceremony

The 7th SEA Canoe Championship 2008 come to a close on Dec 14, 2008. The Closing Ceremony’s Guest of Honour was attended by Mr. Teo Ser Luck, Senior Permanent Secretary Ministry of Community Development, Youth & Sports. Team Singapore has done well and came in 2nd in this event with 9 Gold, 6 Silver and 20 Bronze. The junior athletes has perform well and within the expectation of the SCF.

President of Singapore Canoe Federation win the Japan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (JCCI) Singapore Foundation Sports Award 2008

Mr. Chua Kee Huat, President of Singapore Canoe Federation (SCF) was presented with the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) Singapore Foundation Sports Award FY2008 for his tireless efforts and noticeable achievements in promoting Canoeing in Singapore. Mr. Chua received his award at a presentation ceremony that took place on 9 December 2008 at the Japanese Association, Singapore. Mr. Chua has been instrumental in the growth of Canoeing in Singapore. He has been extensively involved in Canoe for the past 28 years from 1980 to present, which includes serving as President of SCF for 10 years. He was the Vice President of the South East Asia Canoe Federation (SEACF) and Chairman of the Canoe Sub Committee in the People’s Association Adventure Club.

SEA (South East Asia) Teams arrive in Singapore for 7th Senior and 5th Junior Canoe Championships

Singapore is hosting the SEA teams for the 7th Senior and 5th Junior SEA Canoe Championships from Dec 12 to Dec 14, 2008 at MaRitchie Reservoir with more 150 overseas athletes and officials participating in this event. In addition to the championship, the Singapore Canoe Federation also organized the International Canoe Federation(ICF) Canoe-Sprint Official examination which was held on Dec 14, 2008. Anyone certified as ICF Canoe-Sprint Official is entitled to perform officiating duties in Olympic Games and ICF events such as World Championships.

ICF approved Singapore to host World Canoe Marathon Championships in 2011

Singapore was awarded to host the ICF World Canoe Marathon Championship in Y2010 but due to the conflict with YOG 2010 and F1 Grand Prix. The Singapore Canoe Federation has requested to host the World Canoe Marathon in Y2011.

International Canoe Federation(ICF) visit to Singapore for Youth Olympic Games(YOG) Y2010

Simon Toulson, General Secretary and Csaba Szanto, Technical Director visited Singapore to perform onsite survey and meetings with officials from SYOGOC(Singapore YOG Organizing Committee) and Singapore Sports Council.

IOC Seminar for Youth Olympic Games

As part of the Youth Olympic Games 2010 to held in Singapore, the IOC conducted a series of seminars for all Olympic sports association in Singapore on the week of April 14, 2008. The Singapore Canoe Federation attended the seminar on April 14, 2008 and represented by:

Inaugural Youth Olympic Games(YOG) in 2010

The International Olympic Council, announced that Singapore will host the inaugural Youth Olympic Games(YOG) in 2010. Singapore will host about 4,000 officials and athletes aged between 14 and 18, competing in 26 sports.

Singapore Canoe Federation(SCF) is pleased that Singapore will be hosting the Youth Olympic Games 2010 as Sprint Kayaking(“C” & “K” events) and Slalom are Olympic recognize disciplines. This will be very excellent for Kayaking/Canoeing in Singapore for our junior athletes to compete and learn from other countries.

Singapore Sports Hub

Singapore Sports Hub Consortium, Led By Dragages Singapore Pte Ltd, Selected as Preferred Bidder For Sports Hub Project

Singapore government awards Singapore Sports Hub Consortium to design, build and operate the Singapore Sports Hubs.

Singapore Canoe Federation is very excited with this announcement and award of the SportsHub because as a Water SportsHub is incorporate into the overall design with: whitewater stadium and Sprint Kayak Racing lanes to host major world championships. The SportsHub will have a positive impact to Kayaking and Canoeing in Singapore and within the South East Asia region.

Two Bronzes Medal for 24th SEA Games 2007(Thailand)

Singapore Canoe Federation clinched Two Bronze Medals for Ladies K2 and Ladies K4 events during the 24th SEA Games 2007 held in Thailand.

K2 Bronze Medal athletes are:
Ng Xiang Ru Annabelle and Lee Wiling Geraldine (Timing: 2:04.690)


K4 Bronze Medal athletes are:
Chua Peixuan Irene, Chen Jiewen Andrea, Ng Xiang Ru Annabelle and Lee Wiling Geraldine (Timing: 1:43.930)

In 22th SEA Games 2003(Vietnam), the Ladies K4 team clinched a Bronze Medal for Singapore.


Amendment of Constitution

The amended constitution approved at the last Annual General Meeting that was held on 28th August 2004 was approved by Registry Of Society.


SCF Annual General Meeting

The SCF Annual General Meeting is coming up soon.

Those who have not paid up their affiliation fees, please do so by 31st March 2005.

An administrative fee of S$20.00 would be charged in addition to the annual affiliation fee for late payments.

Those who pay after 2005 AGM will be considered as new member and are required to pay an entrance fee of $50 in addition to the annual affiliation fee.
