National Junior Canoeing Championship 2010

The 7th National Junior Canoeing Championship 2010 (NJCC) that was held on 13rd and 14th March at MacRitchie Reservoir has been completed.

Although on both days the races were disrupted by the showers all the events were successfully completed and the only hold back was the medal presentation to be present on the following Saturday.

The NJCC has alway been given strong support of participation from various schools/affilitates. This year there are a total of 530 junior paddlers (men 289, women 149, U15 men 54 and U15 women 38) from 34 schools/affiliates completing for top honours in 22 events.

There were some hard-fought races and the results were near photo finish that the chief official need to seek verification. At the end of the final day, Saint Andrew Junior College came in top in the medal tally with 5 golds in the Junior category. The Under 15 category was closely fought between the Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) and Saint's Joseph Institution. The ACS(I) managed to held on to top the medal tally with 2 golds and 2 silvers.

The Singapore Canoe Federation would like to take this opportunity to thank all the teams for their continual support and participation, thus bringing up the standards of racing to the next level.

Last but not least, the NJCC organising committee would like to express our heart-felt appreciation to all the volunteers who sacrificed their time to assist as race officials. Our special thanks to students of St Andrew Junior College who assisted as boat holders that has enabled this event to be smoothly completed.
