- Training
to deliver all necessary skills and theory for Four Star Award,
either for "River" or "Sea and Open Water"
- Further
training in coaching processes
- Further
training in Coach trainer-training and assessment skills
- Training
group management and leadership for
- either
(a) Journeys on graded rivers up to Grade III
- or
(b) Journeys on the sea or open water where it possible
to be at least 2 km from the nearest land and encounter
waves of at least 0.5 m in height in wind strengths up to
Force

Pre-Assessment
Personal Targets (STAR)

- Work
as a trainee Level 4 Coach under the guidance of a designated
Level 4 Coach Mentor in delivery of Four Star Award Training Course
and assessment
- Meet
log book experience requirements, including a minimum of
- (a)
200 hours (40 days) relevant coaching experience which includes
at least 20 days of planning, organising and leading journeys
on graded water for "River" designation or on water
here it is possible to be at least 2 km from land and encounter
waves of at least 0.5 m in height and in wind strengths up
to Force 5 for "Sea and Open Water: designation
- (b)
Assist in the delivery of at least 2 Level 3 Coach Training
Courses and 2 Level 3 Coach Assessments. Such final log book
entry to be endorsed by the course trainer/assessor as "competent
to proceed to Level 4 Coach Assessment" and signed
- Recognised
current First Aid certification

Assessment
Course
|
|
Meet
requirements of a three days assessment course, to include
- The
demonstration of group management and leadership in conducting
a journey in the specific environment of the award
- The
use of appropriate coaching to teach skills specific to the environment
of the award
- Sound
understanding of coaching processes and group dynamics
- Oral
tests of a wide range of paddle sport related topics and log book
entries

gain the full award, the candidate must:
- Attend
a Level 4 Coach Training Course
- Fulfill
other course requirements
- Complete
a satisfactory assessment
