Aim: This award course is for those who wish to faciliate, organise and deliver training and assessment for Three Star Award and to train and assess Level 1 and Level 2 Coaches.

Environment:

Simple Coastal Water in moderate wind conditions (up to Force 3)

Type of Craft:

 Single seat closed cockpit kayak

Pre-Entry Requirement:

 1.

Attained Four Star Award either "River" or "Sea and Open Water"

 2. Attained Level 2 Coaching Award for at least 2years
 3. Member of SCF affiliates
 4. Log a minimum of 18 hours of Two Star Award coaching experience within the last 2 years

Trainer / Assessor:

 Level 4 Coach


Course Content

  • Training to deliver all necessary personal skills for Three Star Award
  • Further training in coaching processes
  • Training in Coach Trainer-Training and assessment skills
  • Training in journey planning group management and leadership skills
  • Training in various situational rescue techniques
  • Overview of the delivery of Level 1 and Level 2 Coaching Training Course  

Pre-Assessment Personal Targets (Star)

  • Work as a trainee Level 3 Coach under the guidance of a designated Level 3 Coach or above and log a minimum coaching experience of at least Three Star Award Course and assessment
  • Assist in planning, organising and leading a minimum of 5 journeys of at least 10 km each
  • Hold a recognised current first aid certification
  • Assessment should be completed within 2 year upon completion of the Level 3 Coach Training Course

Personal Targets (Trainer)

  • Co-instruct as a trainee Level 3 Coach under the guidance of a designated Level 3 Coach or above and log a minimum coaching experience of at least a Level 1 Coaching and a Level 2 Coaching course

Note

  • To deliver a Three Star Award Course the person must complete the Pre-Assessment Personal Targets (Star)
  • To deliver Level 1 and Level 2 Coach Training Course, the person must complete the Personal Targets (Trainer) & Pre-Assessment Personal Targets (Star)
